Mumbai, Sep 13 (Agency) The ‘D gang’ syndicate has a highly organised system of controlling, extorting money from or taking part in many of the redevelopment projects in the metropolis, alleged Ajay Agarwal, a Supreme Court lawyer, on Monday. Sharing details of a detailed investigation into fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s involvement in several redevelopment projects across Mumbai, he also alleged that the redevelopment of Bhindi Bazar area in south Mumbai by SBUT company is backed by Dawood gang.
In this regard, he has written a letter to several central agencies seeking probe into this, he added. Agarwal, a practicing lawyer in the Supreme Court and a politician, who represented the Bharatiya Janata Party from Rae Bareli in the 2014 general election. In the apex court, he filed public interest litigations in several cases including the Bofors scandal, the Taj corridor case, and the fake stamp paper scam run by Abdul Karim Telgi.
