Kolkata, Feb 15 (Bureau) The Customs and BSF in separate raids have seized smuggled gold bars worth over Rs 2 crore and nabbed 5 suspects for carrying yellow metal from different parts of West Bengal, an official source said on Tuesday. The Customs officials following an input laid a trap at Howrah station this morning and seized some 10 gold bars from a scooterist, who had concealed the smuggled gold into his two-wheeler, the seized gold was worth Rs 60 lakh.
Another group of Customs sleuths had raided a house at Nalini Seth Road at Jorasanko in the central part of the city and seized gold and ornaments worth over Rs 51 lakh. The Customs officials also nabbed three accused persons during the raid. A joint raid conducted by the BSF and Customs also seized some 15 gold biscuits from a person at the Kanaikhali bus stand in Nadia district late Monday. Sources said the seized gold biscuits were worth over Rs 95 lakh and the carrier was also detained.
