New Delhi, Oct 25 (Agency) The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Monday conducted raids and searches at thirty seven locations in Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan of Unitech owners Ramesh Chandra, Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra, including former senior Tihar Jail officials, police said. According to police, searches were also conducted at the residences of former Superintendent of Tihar jail no 7, former Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, Head Warders, Warders and Contractual staff of Tihar Jail.
Mobile phones, documents were seized as evidence, police said . On October 12, an FIR was filed in the Crime Branch under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code, and a probe was initiated into it. During investigation, 32 officials of Tihar jail were found to be complicit with Ajay Chandra and Sanjay Chandra. On this basis, Tihar jail administration suspended 30 jail officials and terminated the service of two contractual employees for allegedly helping former Unitech promoters, a Delhi Police official said. The SC transferred both the brothers from Tihar Jail to Arthur Road Jail and Taloja Central Jail.
