CBI registers case against NIRD Ex-Associate Professor

Hyderabad, Sep 8 (Agency) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against the former Associate Professor of National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) and others including Hyderabad-based private companies and its proprietors for allegedly committing irregularities to the tune of Rs 1.56 crore for printing institute material. After registering cases against Dr.Rajnikant Gundabolu, the then Associate Professor, CWE, NIRD ; Dr.Kondaveeti Papamma (then Editor, NIRD), G.V.S.Sridhar Goud (the then Accounts Officer, NIRD) , Alluri Ramakrishna Prasad ( Proprietor of M/s Balaji Scans Private Limited), M/s Balaji Scans Private Limited, V.Sudhakar Reddy (Proprietor of M/s Vaishnavi Laser Graphics Private Limited) and other unknown public servants and private persons, searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused at various places which led to recovery of some incriminating documents, the Premier Investigative Agency said in a release here on Wednesday.

The CBI alleged that the accused, including former officials of NIRD and others committed gross irregularities in printing works and falsely justified the bills and quotations. It was further alleged that no stock accounting and no certification was done about the quantity. Without calling tenders and market rates not obtained by calling for quotations, printing work was allegedly ordered based on oral/verbal instructions, it alleged. An alleged loss of around Rs.1.56 crore was caused to the Government exchequer due to excess payments over and above the rate contract printing, the release said. It may be noted that the Hyderabad-based National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Rural Developmentundertakes a lot of printing work on a regular basis pertaining to the training material.
