Kolkata, Dec 28 (FN Bureau) The CBI has filed a 40-page charge sheet against incarcerated former West Bengal minister and TMC leader Partha Chatterjee and two others, accusing the minister of being a prime beneficiary in the alleged primary teachers recruitment scam in the state government-run schools, sources said on Saturday. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday evening filed the charge sheet in the Bankshall Court (special) against Chatterjee and two others – Ayan Shil and Santu Gangopadhyay – in connection with the alleged teacher recruitment irregularities.
In the charge sheet, the CBI claimed that it has proof that Chatterjee and the other two accused were allegedly involved in the alleged scam. The Calcutta High Court this week rejected the bail petition of Chatterjee and four officials in the case. Chatterjee was arrested by the ED in July 2022 after cash and gold jewelleries, worth Rs 50 crore were seized from two residences of his aide Arpita Mukherjee. The latter has been released on conditional bail. The ED claimed that the seized money and gold belonged to Chatterjee.
