New Delhi, Sept 15 (FN Agency) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two persons including then Inspector & Dock Examiner posted at Mundra Port in Gujarat (now Superintendent of Customs, Jamnagar) in an alleged bribery case. A case was registered against Nitin Sharma the then Inspector & Dock Examiner on the allegations of demanding undue advantage of Rs 7 lakh from the complainant for clearance of containers during his tenure of posting at Mundra Port, the CBI statement said.
The accused allegedly threatened the complainant that if the demand of undue advantage was not fulfilled, he would not allow them to work smoothly as Custom House Agent, it said. CBI laid a trap and caught Shubham Sharma a private person (conduit of said public servant) while accepting alleged a bribe of Rs two lakh from the Complainant as per directions of the then Inspector & Dock Examiner, it added. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused including at Mundra and Jamnagar which led to recovery of cash of Rs 9.50 lakh and incriminating documents from the premises of public servant.
