CBI arrests Junior Engineer in alleged bribery case

New Delhi, July 12 (Bureau) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Junior Engineer in Electrical department Chandigarh for allegedly accepting the bribe. A case was registered on the basis of a complaint against the accused who has been identified as Satish Kumar, JE, Electrical department, Chandigarh. It was alleged that the JE inspected the complainant’s electricity meter connection and informed him that a complaint was received against him regarding excess electricity load and using only one electricity meter for two houses, CBI statement stated.

The JE allegedly threatened the complainant that a fine would be imposed on him for the said findings during inspection and demanded an alleged bribe of Rs 8,000 for not imposing penalty, it stated. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 8000 from the complainant.The accused was produced in the Court at Chandigarh. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused at Chandigarh and Yamunanagar which led to recovery of Rs 2 lakh.
