CBI arrests Delhi Police SI in graft case, recovers over 1.5 cr

New Delhi, Oct 28 (Agency) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Delhi Police Sub Inspector for allegedly taking bribe from a person, who is an accused in a case, police said on Thursday. Sub Inspector Bhojraj, who was posted at Maidan Garhi police station, was investigating a case against the accused under sections 341/323/506/34/308 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) registered in the same police station. On the basis of a complaint, the CBI laid a trap near Select City Walk in Saket, when Bhojraj came to meet and collect the alleged bribe of Rs 50,000 from the accused. He was caught by the CBI team, said police.

Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused which led to recovery Rs 5,47,350 in cash from his car and Rs 1.07 crore from his residence. It was alleged that the SI had been demanding a bribe amount of Rs 5 lakh from the complainant. He wanted the complainant to give at least Rs 2 lakh to favour him and his friend and also not to oppose their bail applications in a case registered in the Maidan Garhi police station, said the CBI.
