CBI arrests Chief Accounts Officer, Lecturer in an alleged bribery case

New Delhi, Feb 8 (Agency) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two persons, a Chief Accounts Officer of Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation and a Lecturer of Government Polytechnic College in Jammu, in an alleged bribery case, the Central probe agency said on Wednesday. A case was registered on complaint against the accused on the allegations that the Chief Accounts Officer allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 2.3 lakh through a Lecturer from the Complainant for processing payment in respect of bills submitted by his firm, CBI said in a statement.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2.3 lakh from the Complainant, the statement read. Searches were being conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused, it said. Both the accused will be produced before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jammu, it added.
