CBI arrests an Office Superintendent of railway in an alleged bribery case

New Delhi, Jan 11 (FN Bureau) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an Office Superintendent of the Indian Railways in an alleged bribery case, the Central probe agency said on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Mukesh Kumar Bhagat posted in Bhopal, working in the office of DRM (P), WCR, CBI said in a statement. A case was registered on complaint against Bhagat, Office Superintendent (Settlement Section).

On the basis of allegations of demanding undue advantag of Rs 25,000 from the complainant (a retired employee of Railway) for issuance of his pending TPA and Pension Pay Order (PPO), it added. It was further alleged that the accused later agreed to reduce the bribe amount to Rs 20,000. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting an alleged bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused.
