CBI arrests an absconding accused in wildlife offence case

New Delhi, Mar 11 (Agency) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an absconding accused from Rajasthan’s Malwas in connection with two wildlife offence cases, CBI said on Friday. According to the CBI, the accused, identified as Balya Bawaria alias Ram Chander Bawaria, resident of Rajasthan’s Dausa district, was absconding since 2008 in two cases related to wildlife offences. The probe agency had registered two cases on June 30, 2005, on the request of Rajasthan Government and further notification from Central Government and took over the investigation of these cases, earlier registered by Forest Department, Sariska in Rajasthan, said CBI spokesperson. The first case was registered on the allegations that in 2004, the accused allegedly killed a Tigress in the forest of Kali Ghati near ‘Kala Kund’ and beat Ghanka, Sariska by using topidar gun and iron traps.

They took out the skin of Tigress and sold it for Rs 50 thousand. The second case was registered on the allegations that the accused in 2003, allegedly killed a male panther at Kali Ka Dhaba, Jungle of Bighauta, Alwar in Rajasthan by using firearm, iron trap and its skin was sold for Rs 1800, said CBI. Two accused were evading their presence before the Court at Jaipur. The accused were declared as Proclaimed Offender and Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) were issued against them during the year 2008. One of the accused was arrested and convicted in 2019. The second accused was evading arrest. Due to sustained and continuous efforts, the accused was traced and arrested. The accused was produced before the Court at Jaipur and sent to Judicial Custody.
