New Delhi, March 4 (Agency) Two men, including a Joint Commissioner (CGST), who were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation, have been remanded to Police Custody till Monday. Both were held by CBI in an alleged bribery case. The duo, identified as Chartered Accountant Hemant Rajandekar and Joint Commissioner of CGST Nagpur-2, Mukul Patil, were arrested by CBI on Thursday for allegedly demanding bribe from the complainant, said a CBI spokesperson. A case was registered against the CA on a complaint, alleging bribe of Rs 4.50 lakh as motive to induce the Joint Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur-2 and for showing favour, he added.
It was further alleged that the Joint Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur-2 had issued a showcause notice, pertaining to service tax liability in the name of the complainant, said the CBI. The accused allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 4.50 lakh to get the service tax liability case disposed of. CBI laid the trap and caught the accused, while accepting the negotiated alleged bribe of Rs four lakh from the complainant. UNI CM RJ
