Jalandhar, Apr 10 (Agency) Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an attempt by Pakistani smugglers to push drugs into the Indian Territory in Gurdaspur and Abohar sectors. A spokesperson of the Punjab Frontier’s Headquarter of the BSF here on Saturday said the alert troops of 73 Bn of the BSF in Gurdaspur sector noticed some suspicious movement of some unidentified people before the border security fence. The BSF jawans challenged them following which they ran towards the Pakistani territory.
During search conducted Saturday morning, a plastic bottle containing contraband suspected to be heroin weighing 500 gm was seized.
In another incident, the troops recovered four packets of contraband suspected to be heroin weighing 2.430 kg from the area of responsibility of 124 Bn of the BSF in Abohar sector. Value of the heroin seized is said to be Rs 12.50 crore in the international market. The BSF had seized 158.638 kg of heroin so far during the current year valuing more than Rs 793 crore in the international market.
