Jalandhar, Sep 2 (Representative) Border security Force (BSF) foiled two attempts of Pakistani smugglers to push drugs into the Indian Territory through Punjab Border. A spokesperson of the Punjab Frontiers HQ of the BSF here said that the troops of the BSF nabbed a Pakistani smuggler and seized 2.124 kg of heroin from Ferozepur sector. The injured intruder was admitted to the Ferozepur civil hospital. Initial searches led to the recovery of 2 packets of contraband said to be heroin weighing 2.124 kg. The BSF officials claimed it to be a big achievement to expose the nexus of drug traffickers of the Indian side and their cross border linkages.
The operation lasted for more than five hours and a protest was also lodged with the Pakistan rangers. The search operation is still in progress, the spokesperson added. In another incident, the BSF troops seized 3 Packets of contraband suspected to be heroin weighing 0.908 kg from the area of responsibility of 144 Bn BSF in Amritsar sector. The contraband was found concealed in a field near zero-line ahead of the border fencing, the spokesperson said. Value of the heroin seized from both the border locations is said to be more than Rs 15 crore.
