Air Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 60 lakh

Kannur, Aug 31 (Agency) Air Customs sleuths on Tuesday seized 1,255 grams of gold valued around Rs 60 lakh from a passenger, who arrived at the Kannur International Airport from Sharjah in an Indigo Flight. Customs Assistant Commissioner Muhammed Fayiz led team detained Muhammed Kamarudheen of Kasaragod in this connection.

The seized gold in compound form was concealed inside the socks worn by the passenger, Customs Superintendent K Sukumaran said. On Monday, 302 grams of gold valued around Rs 14.5 lakh was seized from a passenger who arrived at the airport.
