Hyderabad, July 5 (FN Agency) The sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught the Manager of the District Cooperative Marketing Society (DCMS), Karimnagar, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. On Thursday, at around 13:15 hours, the Accused Officer (AO-1), Ragulapati Venkateshwar Rao, was caught by the ACB demanding and accepting the first installment of Rs 1 lakh out of a total of Rs 15 lakh. The bribe was facilitated through AO-2, Sudhagoni Kumaraswamy, a cashier in the same office.
The bribe was demanded from the complainant, Kavati Raju, a resident of Indurthy village, Odela Mandal, Peddapalli District, for clearing his pending commission amount of Rs 69,25,152. This commission pertained to the paddy collection centers organized by Raju for the seasons from 2018-19 to 2023-24, according to an ACB statement on Friday. The tainted bribe amount of Rs 1 lakh was recovered from AO-1’s possession. Both AO-1 and AO-2 tested positive in chemical tests for the presence of the tainted money. They performed their duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage. Therefore, A0-1 and AO-2 were being arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE 8s ACB Cases, Karimnagar.
