Chandigarh, May 18 (UNI) Haryana Police on Tuesday seized 145 kg doda post hidden in a watermelons-loaded canter in Sirsa district and nabbed five persons in this connection. Giving this information here, a Haryana Police spokesperson said that the police team during patrolling got a tip-off that a canter piloted by a car is carrying a huge consignment of doda post concealed under watermelons. On receiving this information, the team put up barricades and signaled a car to stop for checking.
Soon after a canter driver coming from Fatehabad side also signaled to stop for checking. On seeing the police, the driver started trying to escape by taking a U-turn but was nabbed. Based on suspicion, police searched the canter and found 145 kg doda post concealed under watermelons. Initial probe revealed that seized contraband was brought from Uttar Pradesh for supply in Sirsa district. Arrested accused were identified as Rajbir, Lakha Singh and Sewak of Sardulgarh in Punjab, Gurmukh Singh alias Gokha of Titukhera and Ravi Singh of Ottu. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered and further probe was underway.
