Kolhapur, Sep 11 (Agency) Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) national president and former MP Raju Shetty Saturday announced that 21st sugarcane convention (Uas Parishad) will be held on October 15 at Vikramsing ground in Jaysinpur town in Hatkanangale tehsil of this district. At a press conference Saturday evening, Mr Shetty said 21st sugarcane convention will be held on October 15 at Jaysinpur town, to fix first installment of FRP (Fair and Remunerative Price) of sugarcane for per tone in coming crusing session while a “Jagar Yatra” for “Jagar FRPCha, Sangharsh Uas Daracha” (awareness of FRP, fight of sugarcane rates) will be organise from September 24 to October 4 in Kolhapur and neighbouring Sangli district to make awareness in sugarcane producer farmers.
Mr Shetty said SSS would demand that the sugarcane farmers should get FRP amount in one installment and not not in three pieces as decided by then Maha Vikas Aghadi(MVA) government and farmers would express their opposition for this by not giving permission to sugar factory owners to start their coming crushing session. Mr Shetty said he had already demanded to state chief minister Eknath Shinde and his deputy Devendra Phadnvis to cancel MVA government’s decision of FRP in three installments otherwise there was no any alternative to fight against this decision. Dr Jalandhar Patil, SSS state president, Savkar Madnaik, Rajendra Gaddanvar, Janardan Patil, Vaibhav Kamble and other SSS office bearers were present on this occasion.
