Chennai, Sep 4 (Representative) Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday signed MoUs with two Fortune500 Companies at Chicago US. where Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin is on an officialvisit to attract investments to the State.The MoUs were signed with Intelligent power management company Eaton for setting upa new facility and Assurant Inc, headquartered in Atlanta to set up its first Global CapabilityCentre in Chennai. The MoUs were signed in the presence of Mr Stalin during the second leg of his US visitat Chicago.In a social media post, Mr Stalin said “Another fruitful day in Chicago!”Exchanged MoUs with Eaton for a Rs 200 crore R&D and engineering centre expansionin Chennai, creating 500 jobs. Also secured Assurant’s first Global Capability Centre inIndia, coming soon to Chennai”, he said.Assurant Inc, a Fortune 500 insurance company headquartered in Atlanta and offeringdisaster management products and services among major market nsurance services,to establish the firm’s first Global Capability Centre in India at Chennai.A statement from Eaton said the expansion supports Eaton’s commitment to strengtheningits footprint in India and contributing to the region’s growth in power management solutions.
The new facility will be in Sholinganallur, Chennai, and will cover 100,000 sqft and is expectedto be completed by the end of 2026.This agreement marks a significant step in Eaton’s expansion plans for its Crouse-Hinds andB-Line business, reinforcing the company’s commitment to driving innovation and growth inIndia through its sustainable solutions.At the MoU signing ceremony, representatives from Eaton included Matt Hockman, GlobalPresident, Crouse-Hinds, B-Line, Oil and Gas, Eaton, Simon Mathieson, VP / GM – EMEAI,Crouse-Hinds, B-Line, Oil and Gas, Eaton, Marine Drive, Country Head, India, Eaton, PhiliposeJacob, Country Director for Crouse-Hinds, B-Line, Oil and Gas India, Eaton, Herman Bennis,HR Director for Crouse-Hinds, B-Line, Oil and Gas India, Eaton.Led by Mr Stalin, the Taml Nadu government delegation included Minister for Industries, Dr. T.R. B. Rajaa, Secretary for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Arun Royand MD and CEO, Guidance Tamil Nadu, Vishnu Venugopalan. The Industries Minister said, “The Government of Tamil Nadu is pleased to partner with Eatonon their expansion plans. This initiative not only aligns with our vision of transforming the Stateinto a hub of innovation and industrial growth but also showcases our commitment to the successof global leaders like Eaton in our region”.
Eaton’s expansion in the region will bring economic benefits, including job creation and thedevelopment of a highly skilled local workforce. “We are confident this partnership will workas a stimulus for further technological development and industrial growth in Tamil Nadu,reinforcing the state’s position as a leading destination for global investments,” he said. The expanded Crouse-Hinds and B-Line facility will focus on advancing Eaton’s capabilitiesin digitalization, electrification, and energy transition, aligning with the company’s broadergoals of driving sustainability and innovation globally.
