Sitharaman calls upon students to learn sustainable designs produced by India

New Delhi, Oct 29 (Agency) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday called upon the students to learn about sustainable designs already produced by India and improve them for the ease of living for the present age. Addressing the inaugural session on ‘ Digitalization, Innovation and Entrepreneurship : Pillars of Indian Economic Growth ’ at a students meet organized by all the institutes under the aegis of Commerce Ministry like FDII, NID, NIFT, IIFT and IIP here, along with Union Minister of Commerce Piyush Goyal, Sitharaman said that we should be proud of our heritage and legacy.

Recalling the Prime Minister’s address on Independence day, she said that we need to absorb the Panch Pran (five resolves) put forth by Modi to strengthen our country. Citing the various examples of indigenous sustainable designs like the blue leather and the jewellery patterns, the Finance Minister called upon the students to be both,” Agents of change and Agents of Country”. In his address, Goyal said that world over; the Indian economy is being looked at as a bright spot. Highlighting the successful innovations that the country came up with during the Covid pandemic in production of PPE kits and testing swabs, he said. “I urge you all, the alumni of different institutes to come together in accordance with the clarion call of our PM, to break the silos and synergize our efforts to transform India”, Goyal said. Recalling that he was in the city of Hyderabad which gave the country its own vaccine against Covid made by Bharat Biotech, the Commerce Minister exported the students to come up with good designs which lead to cost reduction. Interacting with the audience, he assured them to put in place a completely online system for obtaining patents which would further strengthen the environment for innovation and for the start-ups.
