Sensex up 427.79 pts

Mumbai, June 9 (Agency) Snapping a losing streak of last four sessions, the BSE Sensex on Thursday rallied 427.79 pts at 55,320.28 on the strength of Telecom, Oil and Gas, Energy and IT stocks.The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 121.85 pts at 16,478.10.The Sensex plunged 378 pts at 54,514.17 in opening session. During the day, it was dropped nearly 385 pts at 54,507 pts, days low.In late trade, it erased earlier losses, and jumped 474 pts at 55,366 days high, before closing at 55,320.28 from its previous close.The Sensex registered days high and low at 55,366.84 and 54,507.41 pts respectively.The Nifty recorded days high and low at 16,492.80 and 16,243.85 respectively.

The sectoral indices like Telecom, Oil and Gas, Energy and IT stocks pushed the market up.In scrips, Reliance Industries, a major gainer, was up by 2.73 pc at Rs 2798.60 followed by Dr Reddy’s Lab by 2.51 pc to Rs 4305.25, Bharti Airtel by 2.43 pc to Rs 679.30, Tech Mahindra by 1.45 pc to Rs 1140.30 and Sun Pharma by 1.36 pc to Rs 854.80.The losers were Tata Steel by 3.81 pc to Rs 1045.35, NTPC by 1.18 pc to Rs 155.20, Ultracemco by 1.04 pc to Rs 5435.50 and Bajaj finance by 0.91 pc to Rs 5897.75.The Mid Cap rose by 0.46 pc and Small Cap by 0.24 pc.In 30 scrips, 21 advanced while 9 declined.The Asian Market was seen weak today as Australia was down by 1.45 pc followed by China by 0.76 pc, Taiwan by 0.29 pc.While Japan rose by 0.04 pc.
