Mumbai, March 10 (Agency) Maintaining the winner streak intact for the third consecutive session on Thursday, the BSE Sensex edged up 817.06 points to close strong at 55,464.39 on brisk buying in FMCG, Metal, Power, Realty and Bankex stocks amid strong Asian Market. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too gained 249.55 points at 16,594.90. The day opened on a strong note at 56,242.47, advancing, and remained days high before closing at 55,464.39, up 817.06 points from its previous close. The Sensex registered days high and low at 56,242.47 and 54,982.82 respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 16,757.90 and 16,447.90 respectively.
The sectoral indices like FMCG, Metal, Power, Realty and Bankex glittered. FMCG and Metal went up by more than two percent and Power, Realty and Bankex too shone more than one per cent. In scrips, Hind Unilever, a star gainer up 5.17 per cent to Rs 2101 in 30 scrips of BSE followed by Tata Steel by 4.40 per cent to Rs 1310, SBI by 3.45 per cent to Rs 467.50, Axis Bank by 3.12 per cent to Rs 695.35 and IndusInd Bank by 2.99 per cent to Rs 901.60. The losers were Tech Mahindra by 1.48 per cent to Rs 1482, Dr Reddy’s Lab by 1 14 per cent to Rs 3880 and TCS by 0.34 per cent to Rs 3621. The Mid Cap moved up by 1.06 per cent and Small Cap by 1.18 per cent. In 30 scrips, 27 advanced while three declined. The Asian Market rose today as China’s Shanghai Composite Index up by 2.56 per cent, Hongkong Hang Seng by 1.25 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei 225 by 3.94 per cent and Taiwan by 1.48 per cent.
