Mumbai, Dec 2 (FN Representative) The BSE Sensex on top for another session on Thursday as it spurted 776.50 pts to close at 58,461.20 following gains in Utilities, Power, IT and Realty stocks. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 234.75 pts at 17,401.65. The day opened on a positive note, as the Sensex rose by 97 pts at 57,781.48. It was edged up 829 pts at 58,513.93, days high, before closing at 58,461.29, advancing 776.50 pts from its previous close. The Sensex registered days high and low at 58,513.93 and 57,680.41 respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,420.35 and 17,149.30 pts respectively. The sectoral indices like Utilities, Power, IT and Realty kept the rally intact for another session today.
In scrips, HDFC, Powergrid, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel and Bajaj Auto increased while ICICI Bank and Axis Bank declined. HDFC was a top gainer, up by on 3.87 pc to Rs 2808 followed by Powergrid by 3.79 pc to Rs 214.95, Sun Pharma by 3.11 pc to Rs 768.55, Tata Steel by 2.90 pc to Rs 1113.85 and Bajaj Auto by 2.56 pc to Rs 3333.00. The losers were ICICI Bank by 0.62 pc to Rs 723.70 and Axis Bank by 0.45 pc to Rs 676.75. The Mid Cap rose by 1.01 pc and Small Cap by 1.12 pc. In 30 scrips, 28 advanced while 2 declined. A mixed trend was seen in Asian Market. Kospi moved up by 1.6 per cent. Hang Seng and Taiwan were up 0.4 per cent and 0.8 per cent, respectively. While Nikkei fell by 0.7 per cent. Shanghai and Straits Times were down 0.1 per cent and 0.3 per cent, respectively.
