Mumbai, Nov 26 (FN Agency) The BSE Sensex on Friday dropped 1,687.84 points to close at 57,107.15 as selling was seen across the board amid weak Asian Market. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too tumbled down 509.80 points at 17,026.45. Friday was the worst day for the Dalal Street, as the Sensex fell by 541 points to open at 58,254.79. During the day it tanked 1,802 points to 56,993.89, days low, before closing at 57,107.15 from its previous close.
During the day, the index slipped below the 17,000-mark (at 16,986), a first since August this year. The stocks witnessed their biggest intra-day fall since April 12, 2021, and also their biggest weekly fall since January 29, 2021. Even the broader markets were also fell heavily as BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices fell 3.23 per cent and 2.61 per cent, respectively. In sectoral indices Realty was worst hit, down by 6.42 per cent followed by Metal by 5.36 per cent, Auto by 4.28 per cent, Materials by 4.03 per cent and Oil and Gas by 3.73 per cent.
