Sensex recovers over 400 points

Mumbai, Dec 16 (Agency) Snapping its losing streak of the last four sessions, the BSE Sensex on Thursday jumped 455 points to open at 58,243.43 on the strength of Energy, Finance and IT stocks. The Nifty too rose by 54.55 points at 17,275.95. The Sensex registered the days high and low at 58,337.20 and 57,860.27 points respectively. The Nifty registered the days high and low at 17,379.35 and 17,239.20 points respectively. The Mid Cap eased by 0.35 per cent and Small Cap by 0.17 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 18 advanced, 11 declined and one remained unchanged. The gainers were Bajaj Finance by 2.45 per cent to move up to Rs 7017.35, Infosys by 1.92 per cent to move up to Rs 1766.70, Tech Mahindra by 0.98 per cent to move up to Rs 1658.15, HCL Technology by 0.90 per cent to move up to Rs 1158.10 and M& M by 0.83 per cent to move up to Rs 7432.45. The losers were Maruti Suzuki by 1.69 per cent to move down to Rs 7438.85, Powergrid by 1.52 per cent to move down to Rs 206.80, Sun Pharma by 1.49 per cent to move down to Rs 764 and ITC by 0.69 per cent to move down to Rs 222.45.
