Mumbai, May 19 (Agency) Snapping a rally of last three sessions, the BSE Sensex on Wednesday nosedived 290.69 pts to settle at 49,902.64 on profit booking by local operators. The Nifty fell by 77.95 pts to 15,030.15. The day opened on a negative note as the sensex declined by 105 pts to 50,088.81. It tumbled down 362 pts to 49,831.40, days low before closing at 49,902.64, down, 290.69 pts from its previous close. Meanwhile, it rose by 86 pts to 50,279.01, days high. The sensex registered days high and low at 50,279.01 and 49,831.40 pts respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 15,133.40 and 15,008.85 pts respectively.
The sectoral indices that dragged the equity market were Telecom by more than one per cent folly by Finance, Bankex, Metal and Auto stocks. Scrips, that slipped were Bajaj Finserv was a top loser down by 1.68 pc to Rs 11,216 followed by HDFC, M& M, Bharti Airtel and Ultracemco. However, buying in Sun Pharma, Nestle India, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Auto and Axis Bank capped from further losses, broker informed The Mid Cap rose by 0.53 pc and Small Cap by 0.35 pc. In 30 scrips, 9 advanced while 21 declined.
