Mumbai, Nov 30 (FN Agency) The BSE Sensex on Tuesday slipped 195.77 pts to close at 57,064.87 as selling was seen in Metal, Energy, Bankex and Telecom stocks amid weak global cues. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too fell 70.75 pts at 16,983.20. Gaining 153 pts on Monday, the BSE Sensex opened on a flat note at 57,272.08, rising by 12 pts.It spurted 923 pts at 58,183.77, days high. Later, it dropped nearly 393 pts at 56,867.51, days low, before closing at 57,064.87, sliding 195.71 pts from its previous close. The Sensex registered day’s high and low at 58,189.77 and 56,867.51 respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,324.65 and 16,931.40 pts respectively.
The sectoral indices like Metal, Energy, Bankex and Telecom stocks dragged the market. Metal was a major loser, down by 2.34 pc followed by Energy by 1.24 pc, Bankex by 0.85 pc and Telecom by 0 71 pc. In scrips, Tata Steel was a major loser, down 3.87 pc to Rs 1071.60 followed by Kotak Bank by 2.87 pc to Rs 1962.15, Bajaj Auto by 1.72 pc to Rs 3243.15, M&M by 1.62 pc to Rs 835.75 and Bharti Airtel by 1.48 pc to Rs 728.75. The gainers were Powergrid by 3.43 pc to Rs 206.80, Titan by 2.06 pc to Rs 2372.15, Bajaj Finserv by 1.90 pc to Rs 17224 and Nestle India by 0.33 pc to Rs 19,258.05. The Mid Cap went up 0.29 pc and Small Cap by 1.45 pc. In 30 scrips, 13 advanced while 7 declined. In Asian Market, Nikkei fell by 1.6 per cent and Hang Seng eased 1.9 per cent. Similarly, Kospi tanked 2.4 per cent, and Straits Times shed 1.4 per cent. While Taiwan, gained 0.6 per cent, Shanghai ended flat.
