Sensex ends negative at 58,279.48 pts

Mumbai, Sep 7 (FN Agency) Snapping a winning streak of last three sessions, the BSE Sensex on Tuesday declined 17.43 pts to settle at 58,279.48 in a high volatile session on profit booking by local operators. The Nifty too eased by 15.70 pts at 17,362.10. With yesterday’s all time high at 58,296, the Sensex rose by 122 pts to open at 58,418.69 pts. It spurted by 257 pts to 58,553.07, later it erased earlier gains and settled negative at 58,279.48 pts from its previous close. Meanwhile, it was dropped 291 pts to 58,005.07, days low.

The sensex registered days high and low at 58,553.07 and 58,005.07 pts respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,436.50 and 17,287 pts respectively. The sectoral indices like Realty, IT, Utilities, Oil and Gas and Health Care stocks dragged the market. In scrips, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, HCL Technology and Infosys tumbled down however, buying in HDFC, Bharti Airtel, IndusInd Bank, ITC and Ultracemco capped from further decline, broker said. The Mid Cap fell by 0.23 pc and Small Cap by 0.42 pc. In 30 scrips, 12 advanced while 18 declined. The Asian Market was also seen weak as Hong Kong Hang Seng fell by 0.27 pc and Japan’s Nikkei 225 too she’d by 2.07 pc.
