Mumbai, Jul 20 (Bureau) Extending losing streak for the third straight sessions on Tuesday, the BSE Sensex plummeted 354.89 pts to settle at 52,198.51 as selling pressure was seen in Realty, Metal, Telecom and Bankex stocks. The Nifty too fell by 120.30 pts to 15,632.10. The equity market remained in red throughout the day, as the Sensex fell by 121 pts to 52,432.88 in early trade. During the day it was slid by 540 pts to 52,013.51, days low, before closing at 52,198.51, down by 354.89 pts from its previous close.
The Sensex registered days high and low at 52,465.03 and 52,013.51 pts respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 15,728.45 sand 15,578.55 pts respectively. The sectoral indices that kept the market weak were Realty, Metal, Telecom, Utilities and Bankex stocks. In scrips, IndusInd Bank was a major loser, fell by more than three percent followed by Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, NTPC and HCL Technology. However, buying in Asian Paints, Ultracemco, Bajaj Auto and Hind Unilever capped from further losses. The Mid Cap declined by 1.28 pc and Small Cap by 1.44 pc. In 30 scrips, 9 advanced while 21 declined.
