Mumbai, Nov 24 (FN Agency) The BSE Sensex on Wednesday slipped 323.34 pts to close at 58,340.99 as selling was seen in Materials, Energy and FMCG stocks. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too fell by 88.30 pts at 17,415.05. In opening trade, the Sensex was up by 175 pts to 58,839.32. It rallied by 304 pts at 58,968.12, days high. In late trade, it was tumbled down nearly 521 pts to 58,143.44, days low, before closing at 58,340.99, sliding 323.34 pts from its previous close. The Sensex registered days high and low at 58,968.12 and 58,143.44 respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,600.60 and 17,354 pts respectively.
The sectoral indices like Materials, Consumer Discretionary Goods and Services, Energy and FMCG stocks dragged the market today. In scrips, Maruti Suzuki was a star loser, by 2.62 pc to Rs 7645, followed by Infosys by 2.01 pc to Rs 1697.50, ITC by 1.60 pc to Rs 227.90, Reliance Industries by 1.48 pc to Rs 2350.90 and L&T by 1.47 pc to Rs 1860.45. The Mid Cap fell by 0.57 pc while the Small Cap rose by 0.44 pc. The gainers were Kotak Bank by 1.45 pc to Rs 2012, NTPC by 1.42 pc to Rs 135.40, ICICI Bank by 1.11 pc to Rs 760.20 and Bajaj finance by 0.73 pc to Rs 7163.50. In 30 scrips, 8 advanced while 22 declined. In Asian Market, Nikkei eased 1.6 per cent. Kospi and Taiwan were down 0.1 per cent each. However, on Hang Seng gained 0.3 per cent. Shanghai and Straits Times were up 0.1 per cent each.
