Mumbai, Nov 18 (FN Agency) The equity market remained negative for the third straight session on Thursday, as the BSE Sensex dropped 372.32 pts to close at 59,636.91 as selling was seen in Metal, Auto, Capital Goods and Realty stocks amid weak Asian Market. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too fell by 133.85 pts at 17,764.80. The market remained volatile today, as the Sensex was up 169 pts at 60,177.52, days high. During the day it lost ground by 372.32 pts at 59,376.50, days low, before closing at 59,636.01, sliding 372.32 pts from its previous close. The Sensex registered days high and low at 60,177.52 and 59,376.50 pts respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,945.60 and 17,688.50 pts respectively. With this, the Sensex has crashed 1082 pts and Nifty by 338 pts during the last three sessions.
The sectoral indices that kept the market under pressure were. Metal, Auto, Capital Goods, Industrials and Realty stocks. In scrips, Mahindra and Mahindra was a top loser, it slipped by 3.28 pc at 923.80 followed by Tech Mahindra by 3.21 pc to 1566, HCL Technology by 2.88 pc to Rs 1120.20, L&T by 2.74 pc to Rs 1898.05 and Tata Steel by 2.72 pc to Rs 1186.80. Scrips that rose included SBI by 1.16 pc to Rs 503.95, Powergrid by 0.63 pc to Rs 192.36, HDFC Bank by 0.58 pc to Rs 1539.60 and Reliance industries by 0.35 pc to Rs 2472.74. The indices that declined were Metal by 2.76 pc followed by Auto by 2.32 pc, Capital Goods by 1.89 pc, Industrials by 1.70 pc and Realty by 1.57 pc. The Mid Cap was down 1.68 pc and Small Cap by 1.52 pc. Out of 30 scrips, six advanced while 24 declined. There will be no trading in stock market on Friday on account of ‘Guru Nanak Jayanti’, traders informed. The Asian Market was also down today, as Hang Seng shed 1.4 per cent, even Nikkei and Shanghai Composite were down 0.3 per cent and 0.4 per cent, respectively. Kospi too fell 0.3 per cent. While, Taiwan gained 0.4 per cent, and Straits Times was flat.
