Mumbai, Oct 27 (Bureau) Snapping a winning streak of last two sessions, the BSE Sensex on Wednesday slipped 206.83 pts to settle at 61,143.33 on profit booking by local operators. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too fell by 57.45 pts at 18,210.95. See saw trend was seen during the day, as the Sensex opened higher by 149 pts at 61,499.70. It surged 226 pts to 61,576.85, days high. Later, it was dropped nearly 361 pts to 60,989.39, days low, before closing at 61,143.33, sliding 206.93 pts from its previous close. The sensex registered days high and low at 61,576.85 and 60,989.39 pts respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 18,342.05 and 18,167.90 pts respectively.
The sectoral indices like Metal, Bankex, Energy and Oil and Gas stocks dragged the market today. In scrips, Asian Paints was a major loser, down by 4.42 pc to Rs 3094.20 followed by Sun Pharma, Infosys, SBI and Ultracemco. The Mid Cap rose by 0.02 pc and Small Cap by 0.30 pc. In 30 scrips, 14 advanced while 16 declined. The sectoral indices that went down were Metal by 1.82 pc followed by Bankex by 1.12 pc, Energy by 0.94 pc and Oil and Gas by 0.70 pc. Asia-Pacific were lower today as Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell by 1.31 per cent. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 fell by 0.64 per cent while the Topix index shed 0.51 per cent. South Korea’s Kospi also slipped 0.55 pc.
