New Delhi, Nov 28 (Representative) Monetary assistance of Rs 350 crore has been issued to 7 lakh construction workers in the national capital whose livelihood has been affected after a ban on construction activities due to pollution, a statement issued by the office of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Saturday. “The assistance amount was deposited by the Kejriwal Government in the accounts of 2.95 lakh construction workers on Saturday.
In the accounts of the other workers, the assistance amount will be sent in the next 2 days,” the statement added. According to the official statement, each construction worker would receive a sum of Rs 5,000 as financial assistance amid the construction ban. “Delhi Government is standing with construction workers at every step. Workers are the spinal cord of the country, which strengthens the country. The honour and interests of the workers are the main priority of our Government,” Sisodia quoted saying in the statement. The minister also said that as long as the construction activities are closed in Delhi, the government will run special drives to register the construction workers not registered with the construction board yet. “This step will help the Delhi Government to assist all the construction workers in Delhi. There are 10 lakh construction workers in Delhi, out of which 7 lakh are now registered,” he added.
