Mumbai, May 4 (Agency) With the Covid pandemic finally over, more than 300 million guest arrivals are expected this year in India on Airbnb. While more people are turning to hosting, guests are opting for a more affordable stay amidst a rising cost of living crisis, with night stay in private rooms in India showing a rise by over 80 per cent, the findings of a study released here stated on Thursday.
Rooms remained one of the most popular types of stay for guests as the third most booked category since the launch of Airbnb Categories last May, with solo travellers and millennials most likely to book a private room. Globally, last year, more than 80 per cent of private room stays were under USD 100 a night (approximately under Rs 8,200 a night), with the average rate of a private room in India as Rs 2,572 per night. More than 47,000 cities had at least one listing with an average price of under USD 50 (approximately Rs 4,100) last year, the release added.
