By Dr Ashok Kumar Panda, Bhubaneswar: National Institute of Fashion Technology Graduation Show -2024 was indeed impressive last Thursday .Students from Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion and Life Style Accessories, Textile Design, Fashion Technology and Fashion Management Departments exhibited their talents by presenting their creative endeavours and innovative projects.The enriching experience, displaying the cutting –edge ideas and designs that were meticulously crafted by the students were commendable.
NIFT is the pioneering institute of fashion education in the country and has been in the vanguard of providing professional human resources to the textile and apparel industry. it was made a statutory institute in 2006 by an act of parliament. Over the years, NIFT has also been working as a knowledge service provider to the Union and State governments in the area of design development and positioning of handloom and handicrafts. The focus of NIFT is to emerge as a centre of excellence and innovation, proactively catalyzing the growth of fashion business through leadership in professional education with concern for social and human values.
In her message Tanu Kashyap , Director General, NIFT said “The world you are embarking into is a challenging one, where the only constant is change. These are times of disruptive change, where sustainability and technology are learning to engage with each other. You will find that you have to constantly reinvent yourself to remain contemporary and relevant. It is hoped that the skills, learning and experience that you have gathered over the years at NIFT would stand you in good stead to stay abreast and guide you to make meaningful decisions” she asserted. Prof. Sudha Dhingra, Dean Academics while expressing her heartfelt best wishes to the students in their future endeavours stressed the need to continue to push boundaries , defy expectations, and leave your mark on the world with your creativity, passion, and dedication.
Chief Guest, Sarvesh Ranjan General Manager & Zonal Head, Union Bank of India while enthusing the students said that we must be prepared to face the challenges of life and move forward to reach our set goals and also be aware of what is happening around us. Other esteemed guests were Krishna Gupta, Biranchi Sahoo and Bauri Raula Rajesh Kumar Jha, Director, NIFT Bhubaneswar in his welcome address expressed his pride in the students’ achievements and also expressed his gratitude to the faculty members for their unstinted support in facilitating excellence performance. Dr Santosh Tarai, Associate Professor and Academic Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.
