Naveen lays foundation stone of JSW’s Rs 65,000 crore integrated steel plant

Bhubaneswar, Feb 16 (FN Representative) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the Rs 65,000 crore integrated steel plant of 13.2 MTPA by JSW Utkal Steel Limited at Dhinkia, near Paradip. The mega steel plant project, one of the biggest steel plants in the world, will provide employment opportunities to nearly 30,000 youths.

Patnaik also laid the foundation stones for a Rs 22,000 crore green ammonia plant of 1.20 MTPA by ReNew E-Fuels Pvt Ltd. and a 25,000 MTPA modern chemicals factory by Silox India Pvt Ltd. at an investment of Rs 500 crore. These two projects, official sources said, will generate employment for 5,000 youths in the region. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that in the 1960s, Biju Babu had taken a progressive decision to establish Paradip Port, which had become a milestone in the development of Odisha. And now Paradip has emerged as the major investment destination in the country, he said, adding that the development has now become the identity of Odisha.

Patnaik thanked the people of Paradip and Jagatsinghpur for their support in the development of industries in the region and said all families in the region will benefit from the establishment of these projects. JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal said long ago that Biju Babu had planned the establishment of a steel plant in Paradip, which was made possible by his son Naveen Patnaik. He said JSW will cooperate in the economic growth of Odisha as the state is a major investment destination for the company.
