Hyderabad, Aug 26 (Agency) Telangana Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy has said that the Nano urea is ideal for global agriculture. Speaking at a conference “On the need to use fertilizers, chemicals and nano-urea in agriculture”, organised by Acharya Jayashankar Agricultural University at its auditorium here on Friday, Reddy said Dr. Ramesh Raliya Scientist & Entrepreneur- Nano Technology has discovered this technology and gave it to Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) for the welfare of Indian farmers. IFFCO is the world’s largest federation of 36,000 cooperatives, he said. The Minister said Nano Urea was applied in 11,000 farmers’ fields and the results were checked and released in the market.
He said for the first time, Urea in liquid form was made available in Nano technology. With this the big process of moving fertilizer bags is easier. Reddy said, earlier, farmers were encouraged to cultivate wheat and announced a Minimum Support Price of Rs 50 per quintal for the first time. After that gradually MSP had been given to 29 crops in the country. Stating that India is a country with an ancient agricultural civilization, he said that the method of producing human food through the scientific method of agriculture began about 10,000 years ago. Reddy stated that nutrients are mainly required in the soil to grow crops.
Each region has different types of nutrients. As the previous Congress government did not provide farmers with proper knowledge in the use of chemical fertilizers, they used them as they wished. Due to this, nutrients in the soil were deficient and excessive. Due to excessive use of fertilizers and Urea, ponds and groundwater were getting polluted. In this background, the Telangana Government has decided to divert the farmers towards Nano Urea, he said. The Minister said with the use of Nano Urea, the plants get more leafy green and the crop grows faster. This leads to freezing of urea, overcoming transportation costs, storage problems in warehouses and reducing foreign imports. Stating that 500 milliliters of Nano urea is equivalent to one bag of Urea, Reddy said only 30 to 50 per cent urea is usable by the plant, wherein Nano Urea can work upto 80 per cent and support plant growth. Stating that Telangana is a model for the country, he said with the use of Nano Urea , we should once again stand as a compass for the country. Agriculture Secretary Raghunandan Rao, IFFCO General Manager Dr Jaganmohan Reddy, Mark Fed Chairman Mara Gangareddy, Additional Commissioner of Agriculture Hanmanthu are among others who took part in the conference.
