Pune, Mar 6 (Agency) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday dedicated a fleet of 150 e-buses manufactured by Olectra in Pune for public transportation. Modi, who was in Pune today, also inaugurated a state-of-the-art electric bus depot and charging station in Baner. Olectra, currently operates 150 e-buses in Pune for Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal. “Olectra is proud to add another 150 fleet of electric buses in Pune city to the current fleet of 150 buses,” Olectra Greentech Chairman and Managing Director KV Pradeep said.
In Pune, the company has successfully operated over 2 crore kilometres. Apart from Pune, Olectra is also operating the electric bus fleet in Surat, Mumbai, Pune, Silvassa, Goa, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Dehradun. “As the response from the commuters in multiple cities is exuberant, the respective transport organisations are willing to expand the electric bus fleet,” he said. Pradeep further said that Olectra is committed to its efforts to reduce the pollution levels, both sound pollution and carbon emissions through an efficient electric public transport system.
