Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 23 (Representative) In a significant milestone for Kerala’s industrial sector, KINFRA’s HiTech Park in Kalamassery and the Integrated Industrial & Textile Park (IITP) in Palakkad have been honoured with the prestigious FICCI Swachh Industry Park Awards. These accolades recognise the parks’ exceptional contributions to cleanliness, efficient waste management, and environmental sustainability, a release said. HiTech Park receiving the award for Infrastructure Excellence and IITP Palakkad being recognised for Environmental Sustainability. Organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), the Swachh Industry Park Campaign aims to encourage industrial parks owned by state governments and union territories to adopt best practices in cleanliness and sustainability. The stringent eligibility criteria include a minimum area of 100 acres and at least 50% occupancy, ensuring only the most deserving parks qualify for evaluation. 137 parks competed for various categories. In September, FICCI’s expert panel conducted on-site inspections at both parks, verifying documentation and interacting with individual units to understand how KINFRA supports businesses.
KINFRA MD Santosh Koshy Thomas received the awards on behalf of the Government of Kerala from Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal at an event held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, Delhi, as part of FICCI’s 97th anniversary. The Union Minister lauded Kerala’s commitment to maintaining high standards in its industrial parks alongside its efforts to attract investments. He also praised the state’s achievements in other sectors, including tourism, calling them commendable.According to P. Rajeev, Industries Minister, this achievement underscores KINFRA’s commitment to fostering clean, green, and sustainable industrial environments. “It also highlights Kerala’s ability to balance industrial growth with environmental consciousness, setting an inspiring example for the rest of the country. Winning these awards is a proud moment for KINFRA and all of Kerala, showcasing the state’s dedication to building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for its industries and communities,” he said.
