New Delhi, Dec 17 (Agency) The Jalan Kalrock Consortium which won the bid to take over grounded Jet Airways on Friday said it is geared up to resume domestic operations and has received more than 35,000 job applications for various posts. The Consortium said that it is ready with the required funds and have applied to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for the necessary approvals to start capital infusion in the airline.
“The Consortium is ready with its investments and given the progress the team has made operationally since NCLT Approval in June 2021, we feel it is time to fund the company immediately for revival of the business, without delay,”said Murari Lal Jalan, Lead Member of the Consortium and Proposed Promoter and Non-Executive Chairman of Jet Airways. “We are aiming to start domestic operations at the earliest in 2022 as a full-service carrier and look forward to creating history with Jet Airways revival,” he added. In its latest filing before the NCLT, the Consortium has intimated December 22, 2021, as its plan “effective date” and seeks to forthwith implement the plan as approved previously by NCLT in June 2021. Jet Airways 2.0 is expected to commence its operations in 2022 with six narrow body aircraft and reach over 100 aircraft fleet in five years. Run out of cash, Jet Airways ceased to operate in 2019 and was later taken to bankruptcy court for resolution.
