Chennai, Sep 21 (Representative) India’s biggest Global Spin conclave on promotion of handlooms, handicrafts and technical textiles commenced here today. The 2-day event is being organised by the World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME) and IAMKHAADII Foundation (IAMKHADI) in association with the Union Ministry of MSME. Tamil Nadu Department of Handloom, Handicraft, Textiles and Khadi is the State Partner and hosting the conclave and is supported by the Ministry of Textiles as Knowledge Partner and NIFT Foundation for Design and Innovation (NFDI) as co-organiser. One of the biggest conclave in the textile sector in India, it was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Handloom and Textiles Minister R Gandhi in the presence of officials from the Union Ministry of MSME, Central Silk Board, Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Handlooms, Handicrafts and Textiles, and key organisations in the handloom and textile sector including, Co-Optex, Khadi Kraft, Poomphuhar.
With theme on Technology, Supply Chain, Innovation, Credit, Market and Sustainability, the conclave was aimed at working towards globalization of Indian textile industry by analysing the best practices, new production techniques, innovative procedures and product qualities to satisfy all international eco-standards, which would help in showcasing attractive and new designs for the international market, that would further result in new business opportunities and empower MSMEs to contribute effectively to the country’s socio-economic development. The conclave will have series of panel discussion with over 30 industry and sector leaders and International Experts from Russia, Mauritius, UAE, Nigeria as speakers. The discussion will focus on Quality, Design, Value and Innovation that will empower the participants with right knowledge and exposure in Handlooms and Technical Textiles, Innovation and Technology, Innovative Financing, Market Access and Linkages, Research and Development and Export Promotion. MoUs will also be signed between Co-optex and IAMKHADI Foundation on social footprinting, with Traceyarn on block chain, with Kosha on traceability and few others. More the 250+ MSMEs, including artisans, designers, traders, exporters, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, artisans, Startups and participants are attending the conclave which will provide great opportunities to learn, share best practices and build networks.
