Mumbai, March 29 (FN Agency) Indian-American and IIT Bombay alumnus Raj Subramaniam is set to become the new President and CEO of delivery giant FedEx from June 1. In a global announcement made on Monday, the US-based transportation services company said that effective June 1, 2022, Frederick W Smith, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FedEx will become the Executive Chairman, and Subramaniam, President and Chief Operating Officer, will be promoted as President and CEO. With his appointment as the new CEO, Subramaniam joins the group of Indian diaspora proving their mettle and taking the top positions as global giants. In the recent past, Leena Nair took over as the CEO of Chanel, IIT Bombay alumnus Parag Agarwal was appointed to head Twitter, while Arvind Krishna became the CEO of IBM. Subramaniam was elected to the FedEx Board of Directors in 2020. Prior to his role as President and COO of FedEx Corp, Subramaniam was President and CEO of FedEx Express. Subramaniam also held several other management roles and served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of FedEx Corp, where he was responsible for developing the corporate strategy.
In addition, he has also served as the President of FedEx Express in Canada and in several other management and marketing roles throughout Asia and the US since he joined FedEx in 1991. “FedEx has changed the world by connecting people and possibilities for the last 50 years.
