New Delhi, Aug 1 (FN Bureau) On the back of strong economic growth and rising compliance level, India’s total Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection rose 10.3% year-on-year to Rs 1,82,075 crore in the month of July 2024. The gross GST collection in July 2023 had stood at Rs 1,65,105 crore. After accounting for refunds, the total net GST revenue in the month of July this year was Rs 1,65,793 crore as against Rs 1,44,897 crore thus representing a growth of 14.4%.
As per the provisional data released on Thursday, the gross domestic GST revenue increased 8.9% year-on-year to Rs 1,34,036 crore in July this year as compared to Rs 1,23,026 crore in the same month a year ago. Among the states which saw double-digit growth in GST revenue during July this year include Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Assam and Karnataka. Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya were among the states which saw a dip in GST revenue during the month of July this year.
