New Delhi, Jan 5 (Agency) Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday urged the auto industry to not limit itself to achieving a 25pc export share and rather aim for at least 50% export share. India’s contribution to the world is increasing rapidly, with a share of vehicles being exported from 14% presently to about 25% of all passenger vehicles produced in India by 2030. Similarly, about 30% of two-wheelers produced in India are expected to be exported by 2030. The Minister encouraged the industry stakeholders to adopt a proactive approach to seize opportunities in the global economy, emphasising the vast potential for Indian businesses to capture large world markets.
He praised the collaborative spirit prevalent across sectors, highlighting its role in driving the best outcomes while fostering healthy competition. Addressing industry captains at the curtain-raising event of Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, the Minister emphasised India’s ambition to substantially increase its share of global exports. He also unveiled the logo and booklet for the mega mobility show scheduled to be held on February 1–3 in New Delhi. More than 27 leading vehicle manufacturers are set to unveil new models and electric vehicles during the event. “Legacy automotive players, both international and domestic, will be showcasing their electric, hybrid, CNG, and biofuel-powered vehicles,” the official press release said.
