FM meets Boeing Defense CEO, discusses MRO opportunities in India

New Delhi/Washington, Apr 24 (Agency) On a week-long official visit to the US, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday met Boeing Defense President & CEO Ted Colbert and discussed opportunities for investments and growth in MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) and aircraft leasing in India. During the meeting, Colbert said that Boeing Co is expanding its India operations and is committed to the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He said that as a result of the reforms undertaken by the government, India has the potential to become global MRO hub.

Earlier in the day, Sitharaman met World Bank Group President David Malpass and discussed a range of issues including India’s continued recovery from Covid pandemic, impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on the world economy and India’s G20 Presidency and World Bank’s leadership in India. During the meeting with World Bank chief, the Finance Minister highlighted India’s roadmap for infrastructure development and hoped for World Bank’s continued support for financing investments for the National Infrastructure pipeline and Gati Shakti programme.
