New Delhi, Nov 12 (Mayank Nigam) Factory output in the month of September, 2021 grew at a sluggish pace of 3.1 per cent year-on-year, at 127.9, data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) showed. In September 2020, the IIP had risen 1.0 per cent year-on-year to 124.1. The factory output grew 12 per cent in August this year.
From March 2021 of this fiscal onwards, IIP has maintained significant growth supported by a continuing low base effect. Industrial production rose by 13.6 per cent in June, 27.6 per cent in May and recorded a massive 134 per cent rise in April. So far in April-September of the fiscal year 2021-22, the industrial sector has seen a rise of 23.5 per cent, compared to a (-) 20.8 per cent contraction in the corresponding period a year ago. The growth in IIP during September was led by the mining sector, followed by manufacturing and electricity sectors. The mining sector saw a growth of 8.6 per cent year-on-year to 95.1 in September, while the manufacturing sector saw a rise of 2.7 per cent to 129.9. The electricity sector too rose 0.9 per cent to 167.9, according to the MoSPI data.
