Hyderabad, Oct 13 (Bureau) Dr. K. Balaswamy, Adviser NECC (National Egg Coordination Committee), on Friday said that American and British scientists and nutritionists have accepted the goodness of eggs and per capita consumption in all advanced countries reached above 300 eggs while India per capita remained at 95 Eggs only where as the NIN recommends 180 Eggs. Balaswamy while explaining the theme of the World Egg Day as ‘Eggs for Healthier Nation’ at the World Egg day celebrations organized under the aegis of NECC, Poultry Federation of India, Telangana Poultry Federation, National egg and Chicken Promotion Council and Indian Poultry Journalists Association here, explained that they have been convincing the Medical Practitioners about the goodness of Eggs and advise all people of ages to take Eggs without any inhibition.
The Egg ‘contains no cholesterol harmful to the body’, he said that on the contrary the eggs help to build good cholesterol that repairs the muscles. In his presentation, Balaswamy suggested that from 7th month baby onwards till the aged can take the eggs including the yellow yolk. NECC Central Committee Member D. Sudhakar narrated how NECC was formed by Padmasri Dr. B.V.Rao uniting the farmers of the country made the egg prices declaration possible for the last 42 years. He stated that no other agricultural commodity in the world has the right of declaring its price by the producers. J. Sanjeeva Reddy, Chairman Hyderabad Zonal Chairman described Hyderabad the Egg Bowl of India and Telangana takes credit for consuming the highest number of Eggs 180 per capita on an average. K. Mohan Reddy, President, Telangana Poultry Federation thanked the Government of Telangana for helping the Poultry farmers with Electricity subsidy, maize supplies and abolition of few taxes and provision of eggs in midday meals, hostels and hospitals.
He appealed that eggs may please be included in school children’s breakfast schemes also. DS Subramaniam Vice President, Poultry Federation of India explained about Central Government Schemes of Poultry Farmers, permission for import of Soya in needs, Vaccine permission for emerging diseases. P. Chakradhara Rao, former President Poultry India, appealed to include Eggs in school children test books as a special subject to understand the nutritive value of eggs. Mr. Uday Singh, President of Poultry India, announced that arrangements are being carried out for the Poultry India Exhibition To be held at Hitex Exhibition Centre here in November, 2023. Mr. K.G. Anand, General Manager Venkateshwara Hatcheries, appealed that farmers should gear up to export eggs to other countries as scarcity prevails and demand rises. Dr. Ezil Kumar CEO NECC explained that in spite of several hurdles from other states, AP and Telangana have been exporting eggs to other states by coordinating with other zones. Mr. MNRao, Editor Telugu Poultry Magazine, was honoured on this occasion for his continuous dedicated work in publication of his journal for over 4 decades.
