Bengaluru, Feb 11 (Representative) The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is making a strong statement at Aero India 2025, showcasing cutting-edge indigenous defence technologies aimed at bolstering India’s self-reliance in military capabilities. The event, held at the Air Force Station Yelahanka from February 10-14, is witnessing an impressive display of advanced weaponry, futuristic aircraft, and innovative defence systems developed under the ‘Make-in-India’ initiative. Marking a significant milestone, DRDO has unveiled a full-scale model of India’s first 5.5 Generation stealth aircraft, the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). The AMCA, with its cutting-edge stealth features, is one of the biggest crowd-pullers at the India Pavilion, which highlights the country’s progress in indigenous defence manufacturing. Apart from AMCA, the Pavilion is exhibiting 16 other groundbreaking DRDO innovations, including the Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF), LCA Mk-2, Kaveri Derivative Aero Engine, and an array of missile systems. These advanced technologies underscore India’s growing capabilities in aerospace and defence research. DRDO’s Indoor Pavilion at Hall-D is meticulously curated into nine key themes, covering domains such as airborne surveillance, naval warfare, next-generation missile systems, unmanned aerial systems, and radar technologies. With over 330 products showcased across 14 technology zones, the pavilion is a testament to India’s strides in defence research, featuring advances in electronic warfare, cyber security, land systems, and missile technology. The outdoor display is equally impressive, with real-world applications of defence innovations, including full-scale models of the QRSAM Mobile Launcher Vehicle, Akash NG Launcher, Archer UAV, and an upgraded Dornier aircraft.
The latter, with enhanced avionics and radar systems, is a significant highlight, reinforcing its role as a critical asset for the Indian Air Force. In a bid to strengthen industry collaboration, DRDO is hosting a high-level seminar on ‘DRDO Industry Synergy towards Viksit Bharat: Make in India – Make for World’ on February 11. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the event and unveil key policy initiatives, including the revised ToT Policy and a roadmap for harnessing innovative startups in defence R&D. The seminar will also witness the handing over of Licensing Agreements for Transfer of Technology (LATOT) to industry partners, further boosting indigenous defence production. Adding to the event’s significance, the Department of Defence Production (DDP) will organise an indigenisation-focused event, ‘SAMARTHYA,’ on February 12, celebrating contributors to indigenous defence technologies. Five DRDO-developed products have been recognised, and their teams will be felicitated by the Raksha Mantri. Ahead of the main event, DRDO also hosted the Biennial Aero India International Seminar on February 8-9, bringing together experts to deliberate on ‘Futuristic Aerospace Technologies: Challenges in Design Validation.’ The seminar provided key insights into emerging trends and collaborative opportunities in aerospace and military airworthiness. With its impressive showcase at Aero India 2025, DRDO continues to drive India’s defence ambitions forward, cementing the country’s position as a formidable force in the global defence arena. By equipping the armed forces with cutting-edge technology and fostering private-sector collaboration, DRDO is shaping a future of self-reliance and technological excellence in defence.
