New Delhi, Feb 11 (Bureau) The direct tax collections for the financial year 2022-23 (till February 10) registered a growth of 24.09 pc at Rs 15.67 lakh crore over the collections for corresponding period of last year, a government data showed on Saturday. These were the provisional figures. The direct tax collection, net of refunds, stood at Rs12.98 lakh crore which was 18.40 pc higher than the net collections for the corresponding period of last year.
So far as the growth rate for Corporate Income Tax (CIT) and Personal Income Tax (PIT) in terms of gross revenue collections is concerned, the growth rate for CIT was 19.33 pc while that for PIT (including STT) is 29.63 pc, the data showed. After adjustment of refunds, the net growth in CIT collections was 15.84 pc and that in PIT collections is 21.93 pc (PIT only)/ 21.23 pc (PIT including STT). Refunds amounting to Rs 2.69 lakh crore were issued during April 1, 2022 to February 10, 2023, which were 61.58 pc higher than refunds issued during the same period in the preceding year, the data showed.
