Dharamshala, June 13 (Representative) Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala and Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre, Gandhinagar signed a MoU on Thursday to promote quality education and high-end research. The objective of this MoU is to cooperate for research and teaching in specified subjects of Library and Information Science. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of Central University Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal, Director of INFLIBNET Prof. Devika Madalli, Registrar of Central University Prof. Suman Sharma, Dean of the School of Mathematics, Computer and Information Science Dr. Dimple Patel, Head of Department of Library and Information Science Dr. Shivram Rao K. were present. Vice Chancellor SP Bansal told UNI that as per the MoU, both institutions are willing to advance knowledge-based enterprises, develop appropriate technical and management skills for future technology development, exchange of information and human resource development and work towards effective research institution-academic partnership for R and D. Both institutions will share infrastructure facilities to pursue research and conduct R& D programmes. He said that both the institutions will also exchange students/researchers/faculty/scientists.
Collaborative and joint research projects will be carried out by the scientists/faculty of INFLIBNET and the faculty members of the concerned department of the Central University through reciprocal sharing of research facilities at INFLIBNET and CUHP. Prof. Bansal said that INFLIBNET and CUHP will work together to generate appropriately trained manpower in mutually identified areas of Library and Information Science through organizing formal academic courses, twinning programmes, seminars, short-term training courses. The University will recognize INFLIBNET as a recognized centre for twinning programme and will undertake supervision/guidance and carry out research leading to the degree of Ph.D. in specified subjects of Library and Information Science or any other branch of Library and Information Science. The University will recognise INFLIBNET scientists/faculty as supervisors to guide them in carrying out research.leading to PhD degree.
The Central University will provide access to library and research facilities to INFLIBNET scientists/faculty and PhD scholars and they will be governed by the rules and regulations of the University as applicable to faculty and research scholars of the University. INFLIBNET will provide access to its library and research facilities to students and faculty members of the concerned department of the Central University, who will be governed by the rules and regulations applicable to INFLIBNET scientists/faculty. INFLIBNET will provide summer training/internship, research facilities to the students of Central Universities and INFLIBNET scientists/faculty will assist in teaching and training of these students. INFLIBNET and CUHP will develop a collaborative degree programme under their rules and regulations and through mutual consultation.
